A stay in Chantilly is a nice reprieve from Paris

Enjoy Both Pleasure and Business

Having exhibited at Maison Objet for over 15 years – twice a year, we have certainly grown fond of Paris.  But eventually the excitement wanes and it becomes just another show.  So this year we decided to stay in Chantilly, a picturesque commune just 30 minutes from Parc de Exposition.

Chantilly is best known for its beautiful Château de Chantilly, a grand estate surrounded by a large park and gardens. The château is renowned for its impressive architecture, ornate interiors, Les Grandes Écuries (Europe’s largest horse stable), Hippodrome and Musée du Cheval.

As in Paris, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from, many lining the main street Avenue du Marechal Joffre.  Some of our favorites ranging from Italian to French Bistro include the following:

Il Gritti : Good Italian restaurant. Probably the best in Chantilly. Need to book in advance.
Le Sylvia: Typical French “brasserie”. Good restaurant & inexpensive.
La cour Pavée – Creperie In a courtyard in the center of the city.

There is a smaller but lovely selection of hotels.  For those looking for a 5* experience, Auberge du Jeu de Paume is set within the Château gardens.  For a more intimate stay, the charming Hotel Le Chantilly is in town and walking distance to all restaurants. Not far from town is the modern and resort style
Marriott Plus Chantilly.  You will need to rent a car and drive to Maison Objet.  It is a scenic ride each day through the Forêt de Chantilly before spending all day inside Parc de Exposition.

As with any trip, I tend to look for inspiration in designing new bath accessories. The former hunting grounds of the royalty and its natural landscapes provided the aesthetics for the Mike + Ally Forêt Bath Accessory Collection.

I would strongly recommend you mix it up and enjoy the French countryside. And don't forget to order the Chantilly creme!
